Do I still belong here?

Posted by Sentio - June 24th, 2010

So I am now officially a science teacher having passed my teacher training course this week. Saying that I am still unemployed, but at the very least starting in September I will be doing cover work, and hopefully I can get a proper teaching job in the next few weeks.

Does this mean I no longer belong here though? I've drifted in and out over the years and rarely post in the forums any more, but I still feel like a child at heart and enjoy plenty of things about this site. Whether I belong or not I'll probably keep popping in just because I've wasted so much of my life up to this point on here- it would be a shame to leave all of that behind.

Also I'm off on holiday for two weeks in Turkey from Saturday, so I haven't just packed up and left in case you were wondering (and I'm looking at those chasing me in the B/P ranks in particular). I'll be back.

You still belong here - it's much better for me to pass an active user for Blams than a lazy, inactive one!

But in all seriousness, you're still a member, regardless of whether or not you fulfil all that you did back in the day.

As long as you keep WANTING to come back To NG, either to B/P, browse the forums, or just generally watch and play flash then yes you belong here. I suppose you're thinking now that you're older, getting a career, especially one where you'll be teaching people who are more the typical 'NG age', you feel a bit less like you belong here.

I'm sure no doubt when you do get a permanent placement, your time will be more precious, what with grading and everything, plus time devoted to your girlfriend and everything else life throws at you, and then slowly you will find yourself using this site less and less until it stops altogether. That will happen regardless (lets be honest we're all going to grow out of this site eventually).

So yes my point? Which even I've forgotten somewhere..

As long as you keep wanting to be on this site then be on this site. When you're ready to leave it fully, you'll know, or you won't know, it'll just be automatic. So no need to worry I guess.
